Library starts lending telescopes. Neighbourhood develops healthy interest in looking up.

The newest item at a fictional town library comes in a padded case and has a return date, just like a book. It also comes with a simple star chart and a note saying “Start with the Moon. It’s very good.” The waiting list filled by lunchtime. One borrower has already offered to help the next person set it up. Librarians are considering a beginners’ night on the lawn, weather permitting and with the usual strict policy against making anyone feel silly for asking.

The universe, available with a library card.

SEVEN SMALL REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL
About Good Signal

Good Signal is a small daily newspaper from a slightly nicer timeline. Our people, events, and quotes are invented. Our enthusiasm for useful technology, generous people, and leaving work on time is sincere.

Each London morning brings six stories from our prepared collection. The current collection has seven editions; it repeats after a week. No account, no adverts, and no infinite scroll.

Photography & type

Stock photographs illustrate fictional stories. The people, organisations, and products pictured are not participants in the events described.
